GDC Unveils Newly Renovated Lobby and New Sculpture at The Metro, a Luxury Rental Building in Downtown White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, NY (November 2017) – Ginsburg Development Companies (GDC), the area’s leading developer of resort-style rental apartments, joined with White Plains officials to unveil the newly renovated lobby and sculpture at The Metro, a residential rental property in downtown White Plains.

Located at 34 South Lexington Avenue just a short walk to the White Plains Metro-North train station, the 124-unit, 12-story building was purchased by GDC earlier this year and rebranded as The Metro. As part of the rebranding of the property, GDC is making significant upgrades to the building starting with the new lobby.

The renovated lobby features new furniture, wall tiles, lighting and artwork – as well as a new entrance canopy on the building’s exterior. The lobby also features a modern sculpture by Rockland County artist Eric David Laxman whose works are displayed in public spaces throughout the Hudson Valley including many of GDC’s projects such as Harbor Square in Ossining and River Tides at Greystone in Yonkers. More than $100,000 was invested in the lobby renovations.

Over the course of the next year, GDC will continue to improve and upgrade the various amenities, including the club lounge, business center and roof deck. Other amenities include concierge service; Starbucks coffee station; state-of-the-art fitness center and outdoor patio sundeck. Beginning December 1, GDC will handle property management of the building. And like all GDC rentals, The Metro is pet friendly and smoke free.

Public art is more than just a decorative feature. It creates a sense of place for our residential communities and enhances the quality of life of our residents,” said Martin Ginsburg, Principal of GDC, speaking at the grand opening held November 27. “We are very pleased with our first entry into downtown White Plains and look forward to expanding our presence in this important urban market in the future,” he added. Attending the event was White Plains Mayor Tom Roach.

The 7-foot tall sculpture called Bird of Paradise is created from steel, bronze and stainless steel. According to the artist, the sculpture is intended to evoke a bird in flight, ascending gracefully and defying gravity. “The form is also inspired by the organic, elegant curves of the Bird of Paradise Flower. It suggests growth, vitality and the life force,” said Laxman.

The Metro, which is GDC’s first luxury rental property in downtown White Plains, is the company’s fourth transit oriented development in Westchester County. Others include Harbor Square in Ossining, River Tides at Greystone in Yonkers and [email protected] in Yonkers.

The Metro’s studio, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments feature designer kitchens with espresso cabinets, and granite countertops and stainless steel appliances; large windows with wood blinds; wood floors in living areas with premium carpet in bedrooms; porcelain tiled showers and baths and balconies in select apartments.

GDC Celebrates Entry into White Plains with Debut of The Metro, a Luxury Rental Located Just Steps from White Plains Train Station

WHITE PLAINS, NY (March 20, 2017) – Ginsburg Development Companies (GDC), the area’s leading developer of luxury rental apartments, joined with White Plains officials today to celebrate the debut of GDC’s first residential rental property in downtown White Plains. The 124-unit, 12-story building, formerly known as Halstead White Plains, was recently purchased from DSF Group for $35.25 million and is being rebranded as The Metro by GDC.

“These are exciting times for downtown White Plains which is undergoing a dynamic transformation with several major residential and retail projects under way. The Metro becomes GDC’s fourth luxury rental building and its first acquisition that is located with easy access to Metro-North train service. Last year, GDC completed Harbor Square, a 188-unit luxury rental located on the Hudson and next to the Ossining train station. Harbor Square features a public park, waterfront promenade and restaurant. The new restaurant is scheduled to open next month.

In Yonkers, GDC is currently completing the construction of River Tides at Greystone, a 330-unit luxury rental in Yonkers overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades. The project features a direct walkway to the nearby Greystone Metro-North train station. GDC is also building 11[email protected], a 55-unit luxury rental apartment building located one block north of River Tides with similar easy access to the Greystone train station.
